IT’S CARNIVAL TIME
This will be the 74th consecutive year the Overland Lions – A Fun Time Shows Event will be hosting The Community Fair at Norman Myers Park which is located at 8700 Midland Ave Overland MO 63114. August 22nd – August 25th 2013 will be a fun and exciting event for everyone.
One of the major improvements of this year’s fair is our new carnival company, Fun Time Shows. They offer a variety of rides for all ages, better customer service, and most of all cheaper prices. Armbands will be available for purchase Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday this year. The 2nd annual Overland Lions Custom / Classic Car Show will be returning to the fair on Sunday August 25th. There will be a variety of food vendors including Bar-B-Q by Presentation Holy Name. This year our raffle prize will be a 49CC Scooter $1.00 per ticket drawing will be August 25th at the fair. The musical entertainment planned for the fair will be Thursday and Sunday – A Touch of Class DJ, Friday – Hush, Saturday – Crossfire.

The Overland Lions will host the 2013 Lions Community Fair, at Norman Myers Park, which is located at 8700 Midland Ave At Lackland in Overland (map). This year’s fair opens On Thursday, August 22nd and runs through Sunday August 25th. The Fairs Hours this year are as follows:
- Thursday: 5:00PM until 10:00PM
- Friday: 5:00PM until close
- Saturday: 1:00PM until close
- Sunday: 1:00PM until 9:00PM
The Carnival has the same start times but may have a different closing time. The Carnival Company will set its own hours.
2013 will mark the seventy-fourth consecutive year that Lions have hosted a community fair. This year will also include our first annual Car Show on Sunday August 25th. The Community fair features Carnival Rides, games, contests, and a variety of food and refreshments for the whole family. This year the Overland Lions will be raffling off what’s become known as , which is a 49cc Red Scooter.
The Overland Lions will be selling raffle tickets on their scooter down at the block party. Also will be featuring there pig races at there booth. Don’t forget to stop by and visit them on June 1st.
The Overland Lions will be hosting there annual Spring Fashion Show sponsored by Dress Barn. So if your wanting to see Dress Barn’s Spring wear bring yourself and friends to The Overland Lions Club On April 18 2013 doors open at 6 appetizers and drinks.
Later in April Lion George Albin will be retiring from the Board of Education of the Ritenour School District. Dr. Albin was first elected to the Board of Education in 1989. A practicing dentist, Dr. Albin owns Albin & Albin, DDS, PC – located at 9317 Midland Blvd. Dr. Albin is a lifetime resident of the Ritenour School District and is known as the Board of Education’s resident historian.During his term on the Ritenour Board of Education, Dr. Albin has served as president (1993-95) and vice president (1991-93 & 2004-05). He has earned distinction as a Certified Board Member and Advanced Certified Board Member from the Missouri School Boards’ Association (MSBA). Dr. Albin’s term expires April 2013.During Dr. Albin’s tenure, the Ritenour Board of Education has been selected for the prestigious MSBA Education Leadership Team Award four times (2001, 2005, 2006, 2007). The award is given to school boards that serve as statewide or regional leaders, are committed to professional development, participate in advocacy for public schools, and implement successful education policies.
In addition to his role on the board, he is a member of the Overland Lions Club and served as president in 1994. Dr. Albin was a charter member of the Overland Business Association and is an elder and deacon at New Horizon’s Presbyterian Church.
Dr. Albin participates in many volunteer activities within the community as well. He has been involved in Ritenour schools as a member of the PTO and band boosters. He has been awarded the Overland Rotary Award as Community Member of the Year and was honored by the YMCA for serving as president of its fund drive.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in biology and a master’s degree in education from the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Albin earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City in 1980.
Dr. Albin and his wife, Patricia, have three children – Edward, Michelle and Christopher, who are all Ritenour graduates
